Capital Improvement Project

Coffey Park- Park Debris Removal

Estimated Construction Schedule: Slated to begin January, 2019 and is anticipated to be completed January, 2019.
Construction Contract Amount: $142,748
Project ID #: 2228
Description: The initial work, to occur in late November 2018, will remove fire damaged playground equipment, picnic tables, signs, illegally dumped debris and hazardous trees. The park cleanup will be conducted under the same permit process and rules as private property debris removal projects. The park has been tested for hazardous materials, no hazardous materials were detected. However, there is a health and safety risk from small particles of wind and fire blown debris found in the turf areas. For this reason a temporary chain link fence has been installed around the park to reduce the risk of anyone accidentally encountering these materials. The five acres of turf will be remediated in the summer of 2019 when dry weather allows efficient removal of the top 2 to 3 inches of turf and soil.

Additional News for October 2018: Information about the plans to rebuild Coffey Neighborhood Park can be found on the Park's web site at, https://srcity.org/2448/Park-Projects.
